Great photo ops tend to come when I'm not really looking for anything. Like here in Bangsaen about an hour's drive south of Bangkok: miles of palm trees, empty beach chairs and closed umbrellas quivering in the breeze, imminent nightfall, floodlights washing the bay in artificial light... there's an eerie blackness in the air. A secret door opens before me, I step through - rigging up camera stands with corroded beach table legs and tops, losing myself in the act, riding the wave. Happy as can be.
